1. Fourteen Falls

This is a spectacular waterfall located in Thika and it got its name from the different fourteen falls filled with thousands of liters of waters that make up Athi River. There’s a lot to see and do in this waterfall such as you will be able to identify plants, do photography, boating, watch birds, and go fishing. The falls are really breathtaking and are characterized by boulders at the base where you can take a walk along a designated area all this against the loud thundering sound of gushing water and fine fresh air from fourteen falls nearby. 2. Thomson’s Falls

It was discovered in 1883 by Joseph Thomson, a Scottish geologist, and naturalist. It’s located on the outskirts of Nyahururu in Laikipia County and is 74 meters on the Ewaso Ng’iro river. You will experience the peaceful, humidly beautiful due to the falling waters with a smooth roar and its breathtaking serene environment while watching the falls. You will be able to hike at the feet of the fall, watch the loud harmless thundering of helpless waters maneuvering through wet, dark, and colored rocks close to the falls. The best time to visit is usually January- May and August –December due to the limited rainfall in the area. Remember to pack up some snacks and don’t forget your camera. 

3. Sheldricks Falls

It’s located within Shimba hills national park in Kwale County. It’s named after David Sheldrick who discovered it. Shimba hills national park it’s known for its large number of elephants and is the only home for the rare sable antelopes. You will be able to take a guided tour to the waterfall through the forest which has elephants and buffalos and you will be able to learn about various species of plants and animals you will see. If you like afternoon walks then Sheldricks falls is good; you can walk staring at the attractive waterfalls as water gushes down into the pool experiencing the calmness of the gushing water and sounds of animals. It is a very fun activity if you want an experience in the wilderness. Remember to carry drinking water, good footwear, and a cap.

4. Chepkiit waterfall or Mlango waterfalls

It’s also known as Mlango waterfalls. It’s located along Eldoret-Kapsabet in Nandi County. The waterfall is located in a quiet environment surrounded by cliffs, hanging rocks, and indigenous trees that provide beautiful picnic sites. For bird lovers this is an amazing place as the cliffs, hanging rocks and indigenous trees are home and hunting ground to over 37 different bird species. These falls are also home to wild animals such as monkeys, snakes, colobus, chameleons, and lizards. During your visit, you will be able to go for rock climbing, video shooting, photography, nature walks, and retreats, or even picnic with your date or friends as you watch the water flow. Remember to always practice safety around the clock.

5. Kereita forest cave and waterfall (Aberdare National Park)

It is located along Nakuru –Nairobi road in Nyeri County. It’s part of the Aberdare forest reserve which has animals like elephants, leopards, colobus, monkeys, and also various bird species. You will enjoy activities like zip-lining, mountain biking, donkey rides, team building, guided nature walks, and also camping. For the lovers of hiking, remember to bring along hiking boots for a greater experience. You will also be able to walk through the bamboo and bushes and see the sources of carbon dioxide in Kenya.  You will enjoy watching the attractive waterfall as water leads back to the pipeline way and also you will enjoy the indigenous trees and large ferns as you walk to the waterfall and the cave. The best time to visit is during the dry season since in the rainy season the roads become muddy and wet.
