1. Panari ice skating rink
It’s a cool ice skating rink, the only one of its kind in East and Central Africa located near Nairobi City stadium and Nyayo national stadium. It has a skating surface area of 15000 square feet being totally enclosed with an ice temp of -25 degrees Celsius and an air temperature of 12 degrees Celsius. It can accommodate 200 skaters at any time and it usually opens at 11.00 am. They have great amenities, clean and well-maintained. This place is just top notch and the staffs are very friendly and helpful it’s a great place for one to skate and also experience winter here in Kenya. Although the time allowed for skating is one hour, this time is more than enough to fall down several times and learn how to skate and also be able to enjoy the thrill of it. It’s a great place to experience the iconic winter classic, it’s perfectly chilly all through the year with a reasonable price for the entertainment it provides. The ice is usually smoothed after every hour leaving one with a good ice rink for any special moves. It’s great for friends and families.
2. Rusinga Island lodge
It’s a 3_star traditional lodge near Lake Victoria and Mbita island club pier with a private beach skiing in and out access and an attached winery. You can enjoy snorkeling or relax with beach umbrellas. You will enjoy eating at their fine dining restaurant or drinking at the bar or even in your comfort room. Their rooms are soundproofed with balconies and are spaced out with separate bedrooms, living rooms, and dining areas. They are fitted with free Wi-Fi, beds with premium bedding, and bathrooms fitted with hair dryers and free toiletries. They also have coffee makers, minibars, and free newspapers. 3. Nyali Sun Africa beach hotel and spa
Was established in 1946 and it has old-world architecture and brings in the colonial past and warmth of Kenyan hospitality. It’s located 1.2 miles from Nyali golf club and 6.2 miles from Mombasa. It offers a great view of the Indian Ocean and it has a restaurant that provides both Indian cuisine to Kenyan delicacies and also seafood at the beachfront grill. It has four bars; Harry’s bar which is a traditional English pub-style bar with a big-screen TV and it offers the finest premium spirits, wines from internationally renowned vineyards, and a variety of local and international beers. Aqua bar is a pool bar offering the best cocktail mixes all day. They also have a spa that provides a combination of Indian and international Ayurvedic treatment and it has three rooms; for couples and a single Ayurveda room. It’s the first of its kind at the coast. Your stay will be super fantastic. You will enjoy everything and the kids’ animation and pool games which are over the moon. The staffs are friendly and helpful. It’s quiet, calm, resourceful, and right next to the beach. There are plenty of activities you can do at the premise such as skiing, relaxing, snorkeling, and others.
4. Mount Kenya skiing
Mt Kenya is four hour drive out of Nairobi and it’s a dormant volcano. It’s 4987m high and the temperature is below freezing taking about two and half days to climb to get to the top. You will be able to see several plant species which are only found in this mountain including the forest of lobelias, and giant rat-like creatures (hyraxes) around the mountainside. It has amazing scenery and a peak view which offers an awesome and unforgettable experience. You can ski on the top of the mountain along the 11 glaciers remaining although recently there is less snow falling than ice melting.
5. Shangilia Skate Park
Being Kenya’s first and east Africa’s largest state park and skateboarding, it’s located along Loresho, a 5minute drive from Waitaki highway in Shangilia orphanage an association that takes care of orphans offering a beautiful work of the charity. It’s special for those who live for pool skating and the charges are very affordable. The pace is neat and for those who love sharing love with the less fortunate, you can lend a hand to the kids who live there. Their entertainment is awesome, with acrobats and others. It’s a good state-of-the-art skateboarding parka and the skateboarders are really friendly and encouraging.
