Pass By: Nairobi, Nairobi
Nairobi is the capital and the largest city of Kenya. The name comes from the Maasai phrase Enkare Nairobi, which translates to “cool water”, a reference to the Nairobi River which flows through the city. The city proper had a population of 4,397,073 in the 2019 census, while the metropolitan area has a population of 9,354,580. The city is popularly referred to as the Green City in the Sun.
Stop At: The Maasai Market, Slip Rd, Nairobi Kenya
Maasai Market Kenya got its name from the Maasai people. The Market in Nairobi is a culturally diverse and showcases the best collection of jewellery, artifacts, clothes, shoes, handbags, wall hangings, and utensils. As such, other than the signature Maasai bead, shoes, and cloth, you can find a collection of other creations from the different tribes in Kenya including stone carvings from the Kisii and wood carvings from the Kamba. Apart from being colorful, and unique, the products at the Maasai Market are quite affordable. Unlike most markets, the Maasai Market Schedule runs for six days in different locations within Nairobi.

The Museum aims to interpret Kenya’s rich heritage and offers a one stop for visitors to sample the country’s rich heritage both for education and leisure. In addition to the museum, visitors are treated to a variety of shopping and dining facilities, as well as botanical gardens that offer a serene environment.

The Nairobi Railway Museum is a railway museum in Nairobi, Kenya, adjacent to Nairobi railway station. Containing exhibits from the defunct East African Railways, it was opened in 1971 by East African Railways and Harbours Corporation. It is operated by Kenya Railways.
The museum has maintained its rail connection. This allows for the efficient movement of museum exhibits for maintenance and placing items in the collection.
The three operational steam locomotives are stored securely under cover within the main railway works. Visitors must request an appointment to view them. They have not been used for several years. One of the display locomotives, 301 (2301) was used in the 1985 movie, Out of Africa.
