Meru National Park is wild and beautiful. Straddling the equator and bisected by 13 rivers and numerous mountain-fed streams, it is an especially beautiful area of Kenya. It has diverse scenery from woodlands at 3,400ft(1,036m) on the slopes of Nyambeni Mountain Range, north east of Mt. Kenya, to wide open plains with meandering riverbanks dotted with doum palms.

Itinerary
Day 1: Diani/Mombasa – Nairobi
Pass By: Tsavo East, Voi Mageso Chember, Tsavo National Park East 00200 Kenya
Pick up from your hotel very early at around 04:30 Am and transfer to Train terminus in Mombasa to board your train which departs at 07:15 Am. Enjoy your memorable ride through undulating, rugged landscape which provides a good scenic view. You will have a chance to pass across Tsavo East-the largest park in Kenya, where you may have a chance to see some animals. Arrive Nairobi at around 01:05 Pm, pick up from the terminal and transfer to Sarova Stanley hotel. You can have your hot lunch in the city as and enjoy city tour en-route to your hotel. Check in and spend the night.

Day 2: Nairobi- meru national park
Stop At: Meru National Park KENYA, Meru Town, Meru National Park 08100 Kenya
The sun rise will find you up already, take your early breakfast. Your driver will pick you up and transfer to Wilson Airport to catch your flight at 08:30 Am. Arrive Meru at around 09:25 Am and transfer to Rhino River Camp. Enjoy game drive en-route; this is the prime time to explore the richness of the park and a golden chance to see; lion, elephant, cheetah, leopard black rhino, zebra, gazelle, Oryx and some of the rarer antelope, Lesser Kudu and duiker, also the more common Dik Dik, one of Africa’s smallest antelope. Large prides of lion can be seen and some of Kenya’s largest herds of buffalo. The rivers abound with hippo and crocodile, fishing for barbus and catfish is permitted at camp sites and along the Tana River. Over 300 species of birds have been recorded, including: Red-necked falcon, Heuglins courser, brown-backed woodpecker, sunbirds Peter’s Finfoot, inhabiting the Murera and Ura Rivers; Pel’s Fishing Owl, kingfishers, rollers, bee-eaters, starlings and weavers.
The Park is most famous as the setting for Joy Adamson’s book “Born Free”, the story of the Adamson’s life and research amongst lion and cheetah. “Elsa” the lioness was the most well-known and her grave is marked here. Dinner and overnight at Rhino River Safari Camp.

Day 3: Rhino River Safari Camp (game drive and other activities)
Stop At: Meru National Park KENYA, Meru Town, Meru National Park 08100 Kenya
This day will be a free day to explore the camp and its environs. After a delicious breakfast go for a nature walk to Gatwe “Skull” hill. Leisure walk through the fields and past small local settlements that gives the visitor a sense of “the real Kenya” as one of the guest aptly put it. The views from atop the hill are exceptional, providing panoramic vistas of the surrounding countryside and of Meru national park and the greater Meru conservation area.
You will later have a leisurely drive through a scenic small-scale tea farms en route to Nyambene Forest and water tower. This excursion takes visitors through scenic landscapes where some of the best quality tea in the world is grown. It culminates in the visit to Nyambene Forest and water tower and includes a tour of the source and waterworks of the Tuuru Water Scheme, an endeavor of the Catholic Diocese of Meru and the local communities. Dinner and overnight at Rhino River Safari Camp.

Day 4: Meru – Nairobi – Ukunda
Pass By: Nairobi National Park, Langata Road, Nairobi Kenya
Enjoy your early morning breakfast. Depart after your breakfast for morning game drive en-route to the airstrip to be in time to catch your flight at 11:25 Am back to Nairobi. Arrive Nairobi around 12:40 Pm; connect with another flight to Ukunda/Diani.
