Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Sirimon gate- Old Moses camp. (3,300m) 9km.
A drive to Nanyuki for lunch, to the Sirimon Park gate (2660m). Climb through the forest and bamboo to Old Moses (3,300m) for dinner and overnight. This trek takes 3 – 4 hrs. Around 680m ascend
Day 2: Old Moses – Shipton camp (4200m) 7 hrs.14km, 900m ascent
Continue through the Moorland and crossing Liki North up to Mackinder’s Valley. Settle for dinner and night rest at the Shipton Camp (4200m.)
Day 3: Acclimatisation Day at Shipton Camp
Walking to Hausberg tarns and climbing Oblong gaining an elevation of 370m.we return to the camp for lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the view
Day 4: Shipton – Point Lenana (4,985m) – Mt Kenya Bandas (2,900m) 11-12 hrs. 785 ascent, 2,085 descent.
Start at 3.am taking about 4 hours to reach point Lenana in time for Sunrise. Descend further to Mt Kenya Bandas through the Gorges valley with scenes of the Temple, Lake Michaelson, Mushroom rocks, etc.
Day 5: Meru Bandas- Chogoria town. 10km
Descend early morning on a wide path sheered by bamboo and rain forest to Chogoria town and further to Nairobi arriving early in the evening.
