Itinerary

Day 1: ARRIVAL – NAIROBI

Stop At: Nairobi, Nairobi
Upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our representative outside customs and immigration hall and then transfer to the Eka Hotel.

Day 2: NAIROBI – SAMBURU/SHABA NATIONAL RESERVE (6hrs drive)

Stop At: Shaba National Reserve, Shaba National Reserve, Eastern Province
Breakfast at the hotel and assisted with check out. 08h00: You will depart and head south to the Amboseli National Park. The drive will be via the great north road. You will have a brief stopover at Nanyuki the Equator town then proceed with your drive further arriving at the Shaba National Reserve gate at 12h30 for park formalities. You will then proceed on a brief game drive en route to the Sarova Shaba Lodge. Arrive and check in time for Lunch. 16h00: Depart for a game viewing drive in the Buffalo Springs National Reserve. Buffalo springs national reserve is an alternate choice for guests who desire a discerning and unfettered safari trip in northern Kenya’s bush country. As one of the several hidden landscapes, the reserve offers a serene setting where you escape into a vast landscape of remarkable flora and fauna. Unique features of the reserve include lava terraces, rolling grasslands doum palms, forests, scrub bush, Ewaso Nyiro River and springs for which the reserve is named. The reserve is part of a larger ecosystem that includes Samburu National Reserve to the north. Wildlife traverse freely between the reserves including rare northern species of the reticulated giraffes, vulturine guinea fowls, grevy’s zebras all of which are unique to this region. Return to the camp before sunset, for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE

Stop At: Samburu National Reserve, Samburu National Reserve, Samburu District, Rift Valley Province
06h30: Embark for an early morning game viewing drive before breakfast in search of the big five, return to the camp at 09h00, for breakfast.
(OPTIONAL) At 10h00 you will experience the unique culture of the samburu people who live around the reserve. A visit to the samburu village takes about an hour and a half or two. You will then return to the Lodge at 12h30 for lunch and relax. You can also opt to relax and enjoy the camp facilities. 16h00: Depart for an afternoon game drive in the reserve, return to the camp before dusk

Day 4: SHABA NATIONAL RESERVE – OLPEJETA CONSERVANCY ( 2hrs 30min)

Stop At: Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Nanyuki Private Bag, 10400 Kenya
Breakfast at the Lodge, 08h00 you will check out for a road transfer back to Nanyuki and head to the Olpejeta Conservancy arriving at the gate around noon for park formalities. You will then continue to the Serena Sweetwaters Tented Camp for check in followed by lunch. 3:30, You will visit the Chimpanzee sanctuary, followed by a short game drive. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 360 sq/km wildlife conservancy that is dedicated to conservation of Rhinos among other wildlife species in conjunction with cattle ranching. It is the home of the last 2 remaining Northern white Rhinos. It is also the largest Black Rhino sanctuary in East African and the hosts the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya. You will then return back to camp for dinner and over night.

Day 5: OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY – LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

Stop At: Lake Nakuru National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park, Rift Valley Province
Breakfast at the hotel and assisted with check out. 08h00: You will depart and head to the rift valley and to Lake Nakuru National Park. Of special note, look out for snow-capped Mt. Kenya, rising in the distance – the highest peak in the country and the second-highest in Africa. Look out also the aberdares ranges which are a source of water in the greater central region of the country. We will arrive at the Sarova lion hill lodge with enough time to settle in before lunch with a little time to relax. 16h00: Set off for a game viewing drive in the park. Lake Nakuru national park is home to one of the most amazing ornithological spectacles in the world – the bird watchers paradise. Apart from the flamingos, the park has over 450 species of birds – a heaven for any avid bird watchers. The park is also a sanctuary to the highly-endangered black Rhino and abounds with other game such as buffalos, lions and the elusive leopard. Return to the camp before sunset, for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK – MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE (5hrs drive)

Stop At: Maasai Mara National Reserve, Maasai Mara National Reserve, Rift Valley Province
Breakfast at the lodge. 07h30. Depart for Masai Mara National Reserve. En route you will have great scenic views of the extinct volcanoes, Suswa and Mt Longonot. 12h30. Arrive Mara Sopa Game Lodge. Assisted in check in then Lunch. 16h00: Depart for a game viewing drive in the reserve.
.Land of Big Cat Diary and Disney’s African Cats, the Maasai Mara is at the top of most people’s Kenyan safari wish lists. The location of the ’Great Migration’ – one of the natural wonders of the world – is a gloriously beautiful, wildlife-rich savannah landscape, once described by the eminent biologist Julian Huxley as ‘the only easily accessible and readily studied remaining portion of the world’s pre-human climax community at its tropical richest.’ It’s also a region where traditionally dressed Maasai still herd their cattle and goats in a lifestyle that in some respects hasn’t changed much since they first arrived here 350 years ago. Return to the camp before sunset, for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: MAASAI MARA GAME RESERVE( GAME DRIVES/ OPTIONAL HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE)

Stop At: Maasai Mara National Reserve, Maasai Mara National Reserve, Rift Valley Province
The day will be spent in the reserve with morning and afternoon game viewing drives with your driver guide. The optional hot air Balloon safari will be on the early morning. Balloon safari briefing will be at the camp at 05h00 and transferred to the starting point. (if not taking the hot air balloon, continue on full day game drive) Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the most popular tourism destinations in Kenya- Africa. The reserve is located in the Great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland. Wildlife tends to be most concentrated on the reserve’s western escarpment. The Masai Mara is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas. The annual wildebeest’s migration alone involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in July and departing in November. There have been some 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles and over 400 birds species recorded on the reserve. Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant, and it is for this reason a visitor hardly misses to see the big five (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhino)

Day 8: MASAI MARA – NAIROBI – DEPART

Stop At: Nairobi, Nairobi
Rise early, tea or coffee then proceed on final game viewing drive in the reserve. Return to the camp for breakfast. Check out and depart for Nairobi via Narok. Arrive and transferred to Carnivore restaurant for lunch. You will then be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport based on your flight schedule.
