Tsavo East and Tsavo West both form the largest conservation area in Kenya – almost the size of Rwanda. The region is known for large elephant herds amongst many other large mammals. Historically Tsavo was home to the famous (man-eaters lions) dating back to 1898. Other places of interest include Mzima springs and Shetani lava flows.

Itinerary

Day 1: Tsavo East

Stop At: Tsavo National Park East, Tsavo National Park East, Coast Province
Depart after breakfast from your Mombasa hotel/Moi International Airport. Drive to Ashnil Aruba Lodge, Tsavo East, arriving in time for lunch. Long game drive in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Ashnil Aruba Lodge. (Meals included: Lunch and Dinner)
Tsavo East National Park is one of the oldest and largest parks in Kenya at 13,747 square kilometers. Situated in a semi-arid area previously known as the Taru Desert it opened in April 1948, and is located near the town of Voi in the Taita-Taveta County . The park is divided into east and west sections by the A109 road and a railway. Named for the Tsavo River, which flows west to east through the national park, it borders the Chyulu Hills National Park. Over 500 bird species have been recorded in the area

Is a massive rocky outcrop stretching over 1.5kilometers. It attracts elephants during the dry season. Leopards have been cited here as well

Formed where river Galana passes through volcanic rocks. It was named after Fredrick Lugard.

Day 2: Tsavo West

After breakfast drive to Kilaguni Serena Lodge, Tsavo West, arriving in time for lunch. Long game drive in the afternoon, which includes a visit to Mzima Springs. Dinner and overnight at Kilaguni Serena Lodge. (Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner).
Tsavo West National Park is located in the former Coast Province of Kenya. The Park covers an area of 9,065 square kilometers. The A109 road Nairobi-Mombasa and a railway divides it from the adjoining Tsavo East National Park. Together with adjoining ranches and protected areas, they comprise the Tsavo Conservation Area

Guests can enjoy a nature trail leading to an underground viewing tank where they can watch hippos, crocodiles, fish etc. Been the only source of clean water many other animals can be seen nearby.

A product of a now extinct volcanic activity shetani lava flow dates back to over 200 years ago and spreads for approximately 50Kilometers across the savanna.
