Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
Stop At: Nairobi National Park, Langata Road, Nairobi Kenya
Your safari starts with a complimentary early morning pickup in the Nairobi area and a thermos of Kenya coffee. Our first stop is Nairobi National Park for a game drive in the world’s only wildlife capital. The most striking thing about this park is the fact that it even exists. It has an impressive number of wildlife, including lions, white and black rhinos, Cape buffalos, crocodiles, hippos, and a birder’s paradise. This Park is also the famous site of Kenya’s elephant ivory burning. What’s left behind are large mounds of ivory ash designated by the year they were burned. In the old days, poachers were executed if caught poaching. In modern times, they are sentenced to life in prison.

Accommodation included: 2 nights stay at Amboseli in a beautiful safari lodge for couples and families. It also has views of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Day 2: Prowl the wetlands and visit Amboseli Elephant Research Camp. Their project studies elephants, including management.
Stop At: Amboseli National Park, Amboseli National Park, Amboseli Eco-system, Rift Valley Province
If it’s elephants you want, then Amboseli National Park is the place, home to over 1,500 East African elephants. Where else can you watch numerous herds in the marshy foothills of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro? Elephants are famous for their incredible memories, superior intelligence, poor eyesight, and extraordinary smelling abilities. You may experience encounters of a close kind, yet with knowledgeable guides who are trained in bush safety. And yet again, human-elephant conflict is an important issue across Africa that seriously impacts communities of today, especially with the encroachment of Africans into elephant country for farming and the raising of livestock.

Day 3: An early morning game drive in Amboseli when Mt. Kilimanjaro is usually clear, then drive to Tsavo West.
Stop At: Tsavo National Park West, Tsavo National Park West, Coast Province
Tsavo West’s rolling hills, thick bush country, and volcanic landscape are home to big elephant herds, lions, and exotic birds. Tsavo West became infamous in 1898 when two man-eating lions preyed on and ate 145 Indian migrant workers who built the first railroad from Mombasa to Nairobi. Many elephant herds make their way to local water holes each evening to slake their thirst while you are slaking yours with sundowner cocktails in the bush.

Day 4: A full day safari in Tsavo West includes Mzima Spring’s eco-system and hippo pools.
Stop At: Tsavo National Park West, Tsavo National Park West, Coast Province
Tsavo West is a beautiful, rugged wilderness. Tsavo West offers some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world, including many elephant herds. Poacher’s Lookout is where visitors can see the teeming herds in the plains below.

Accommodation included: Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge overlooks 2 impressive water holes with many elephant herds coming to them during dinner.
Day 5: A full day exploring Tsavo West or perhaps hang out all day at the waterholes to view non-stop wildlife coming to drink.
Stop At: Tsavo National Park West, Tsavo National Park West, Coast Province
Tsavo West National Park’s landscape is dominated by giant baobabs reputed to live a thousand years. On a clear day, the park offers lovely views of the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro. This is serious bush country indicative of the old days, which still exists in this park.

Accommodation included: Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge. Their restaurant and bar overlook 2 very busy waterholes, which are lit up each night.
Day 6: A morning game drive in Tsavo West, then off to Tsavo East.
Stop At: Tsavo National Park East, Tsavo National Park East, Coast Province
Tsavo East is home to the “Big 5” and contains the only red elephants globally. This is due to regular dust baths in red volcanic soil found in the area.

Accommodation included: Ashnil Aruba Lodge for 2 nights, which overlooks 2 waterholes where elephants often come to drink, with room views.
Day 7: Explore Tsavo East and photograph their elephant herds. Includes a visit to the incomparable Lugard Falls and hippos.
Stop At: Tsavo National Park East, Tsavo National Park East, Coast Province
Tsavo East National Park is one of the oldest and largest parks in Kenya and is loaded with big red elephant herds. We’ll track them down in the bush.

Accommodation included: Ashnil Aruba Lodge. It’s one of the best places to see wildlife in all of Tsavo East.
Day 8: An early morning game drive in Tsavo East, then return to Nairobi.
Stop At: Tsavo National Park East, Tsavo National Park East, Coast Province
The most common Kenyan animals you may see during your visit to Tsavo East National Park are elephants, lions, Cape buffalo, cheetahs, duikers, gazelles, gerenuks, giraffes, hares, hartebeests, hyenas, impalas, leopards, mongoose, vervet monkeys, sykes monkeys, yellow baboons, and crested porcupines. It’s also a birder’s paradise.
