Itinerary

Day 1: Road trip to Mara!

Stop At: Narok, Narok, Rift Valley Province
Depart Nairobi early morning and drive to Maasai Mara. Check in at the lodge and have lunch. After lunch do a short afternoon game drive. We will focus on the areas close to the lodge which are exceptional for all the big cats. Dinner and overnight at lodge.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Mara!

Stop At: Maasai Mara National Reserve, Narok 00100 Kenya
Full Day in Maasai Mara, after breakfast we will drive towards the Mara River. We will carry with us a packed lunch. Maasai Mara has an exceptional variety of different species; whatever the time of year you visit you will be rewarded with many unique and amazing sightings. Afternoon visit to the Maasai Village (optional visit at $30 per person). Learn how the Maasai People live and how their culture has adapted and changed over the years. We will return to the lodge late afternoon for Dinner and Overnight.

Day 3: Road trip to Lake Nakuru!

Stop At: Lake Nakuru National Park Kenya
After an early breakfast leave the Mara for Lake Nakuru with a brief game drive enroute to Lake Nakuru. We hope to arrive in Lake Nakuru for lunch early afternoon and later a brief game drive. Dinner and overnight at lodge

Day 4: Road Trip to Samburu

Stop At: Samburu National Reserve, Nairobi Kenya
We will wake up early and drive to the lake shore. We will spend some time there looking at the flamingos and the other amazing water birds. Then we will drive around the lake looking for both Black and White Rhino and the endangered Rothschilds Giraffe. We will return to the lodge for breakfast and leave shortly after for Samburu. The drive north will take us through tea and coffee plantations and spectacular scenery. We will stop near Mount Kenya for lunch and hope for clear skies so that we can see Africa’s 2nd highest mountain. We aim to arrive in Samburu late afternoon. We will take a short game drive enroute to the lodge. Dinner and Overnight at Elephants Bedroom

Day 5: Game Drive at Samburu National Park!

Stop At: Rift Valley Province, Rift Valley Province
After an early breakfast we will take a game drive – we will stick close to the Ewaso Ng’iro River which really is the life of this reserve. We will look for all of Samburu’s unique wildlife as well as all the predators that are found in abundance here. We will return to the lodge late morning. Lunch will be taken in the lodge and the hot afternoon hours will be spent relaxing in the beautiful surroundings. As it cools down in the late afternoon, we will take another game drive searching for anything we have not seen so far. Dinner and Overnight at lodge.

Day 6: Road Trip to Ol Pejeta!

Stop At: Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Nanyuki Private Bag, 10400 Kenya
After a morning drive spent exploring more of Samburu we head back to the lodge for breakfast before checking out and making our way to Ol Pejeta Conservancy near Mount Kenya. Host to all the members of the ‘Big Five’ (elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard), the conservancy has a higher wildlife-to-area ratio than any Kenyan national park and is one of only four private game conservancies to have been founded in Kenya. At the forefront of the Kenyan conservancy program, the conservancy boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, hosts the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, and shelters large numbers of rare and endangered species like the last 2 Northern white Rhinos. Dinner & Overnight at lodge.

Day 7: Amboseli Awaits!

Stop At: Amboseli National Park, Kenya
We will have an early breakfast and depart for Amboseli; the drive takes approximately 5 hours on a good road. The journey takes us towards the Tanzania border through lots of dry scrub land. We will arrive in Amboseli at lunchtime. Check in to the lodge and have lunch. After lunch we will do a full afternoon game drive. We will be hoping for clear views of Tanzania’s Mt Kilimanjaro, the backdrop for many iconic Amboseli elephant photographs. We will look for lions, hyena and other predators before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: 1 Final Game Drive!

Stop At: Amboseli National Park, Kenya
After an early breakfast we will take a game drive. We will hope to catch the sun rising and clear views of the mountain. We will return to the lodge late morning. Lunch will be taken in the lodge and the hot afternoon hours will be spent relaxing in the beautiful surroundings. As it cools down in the late afternoon, we will take another game drive searching for anything we have not seen so far. Dinner and Overnight at lodge.

Day 9: Goodbyes are sad!

Stop At: Sultan Hamud, Sultan Hamud, Eastern Province
We will have breakfast and leave for Nairobi. We will do a game drive enroute out of the reserve and then start our drive north. We will arrive in Nairobi late afternoon.
