Overview

Day 1: Nairobi

Stop At: Nairobi, Nairobi
On arrival at JOMOKENYATTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, you shall be transferred to the hotel where you shall check in be served with dinner and be briefed about your tour on various destinations to visit as well as the does and don’ts at each destinations. There after you prepare for tomorrow’s tour to Samburu National Reserve at 0700hrs and retire at your room at own pleasure.

ne of Nairobi’s top tourist attractions, the Karen Blixen Museum, at the foot of the Ngong Hills, is the former home of the famous namesake Out of Africa author. Karen Blixen, also known by her pen name, Isak Dinesen, lived in the house from 1917 to 1931, where she ran a coffee plantation. Today, you can tour the well-preserved colonial farmhouse, a kitchen in a separate building, a coffee-drying plant in the woodland, and an agricultural college on the grounds. Furniture that belonged to Karen Blixen and her husband is on display, as well as photographs and books owned by Karen and her lover, Denys Finch Hatton. Day 2: Nairobi-Samburu National Reserve

Stop At: Samburu National Reserve, Nairobi Kenya
At Norfolk hotel you shall be served with breakfast at 0625hrs and later check out of the hotel at 0700hrs and depart for Samburu National Reserve. Along the transit you shall enjoy the scenic view of Kenya highlands, changing gradually to semi-desert region as you cross the equator. The temperatures changes from cool to hot.
1300hrs. Expected arrival time at Samburu national reserve where you shall be transferred and check in at Ashnil Samburu camp for lunch and relaxation.
1600hrs. you shall check out of the camp and kick off for evening game drive. You might spot wild animals such as Grevy zebra,lions,leopard,elephants, buffaloes among others. Bird species likely to be spotted include; staling,rollers,secretary bird, hornbill among others.
1800hrs. you shall be transferred back to Ashnil camp for supper and accommodation, later prepare for tomorrows tour in the same reserve at 0700hrs.

he most famous and most visited attraction of Samburu Land is Samburu National Reserve on the northern banks of Ewaso Nyiro river, a unique natural gem covering 165 sqkm, which makes it neither Kenya’s nor the County’s largest nature reserve. But wildlife variety and density is amongst the highest in the country, possibly second only to the Masai Mara. It is especially known for high elephant numbers and the rare dryland fauna of northern Kenya, the ‘Samburu Five’ comprising of Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and Grevy’s zebra. All in all, there are 50 species of larger mammals identified in Samburu National Reserve, amongst them the great cats lion, leopard and cheetah, as well as impala, greater and lesser kudu and a prolific birdlife, of which hornbill, vulturine Guinea fowl, weaver birds and various birds of prey are the most conspicuous. Samburu National Reserve’s scenic landscape is an experience in its own, combining undulating landscapes of doum palm fringed river banks, bold rocky outcrops and vast grassland savannah with acacia trees.

Ewaso nyiro river flows through all 3 of these great reserves-Samburu, Buffalo Springs and Shaba sustaining a range of wildlife and various communities in an otherwise arid region between Mount Kenya and the vast lowlands of the Northern Frontier.

These reserves are popular due to the diversity of free-ranging wildlife which is uncommon in other safari regions. Large Elephant herds (about 1 000 strong) and Lions frequent the lush riverside in Samburu while the plains are favoured by Cheetah.

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve

At Ashnil camp you shall be served with breakfast at 0625hrs and later check out of the hotel at 0700hrs. For morning game drive and Samburu cultural visit.
Animals likely to be spotted include; Gerenuk, Grevy zebra,Oryx,reticulated giraffe,Elephants,Buffaloes,hippopotamas,olive baboon among others. Bird species likely to be spotted include; guine fowl, roller, secretary bird, tawny eagle, sunbirds among others.
Later you shall be transferred to Samburu village for culture taste where you shall participate in dances, worshiping and art crafts. At 1200hrs. You shall be transferred to Ashnil camp for lunch and relaxation.
1600hrs. You shall check out of the camp and kick off the evening game drive where you might spot animals such as;Lions,Leopard, Cheetah,Hynas,warthogs,Gran’s gazelle,impala,dikdik,rhinocerous,hippopotamus among others. National Archives spotlights Kenyan tribal culture as well as the country’s art, history, and politics. The main floor gallery displays historical documents and a collection of photographs. Paintings and artifacts from the collection of Joseph Murumbi, one of Africa’s most famous collectors, dominate the exhibits. The second floor houses more art, a display of postage stamps, and the National Archives reading room, which is used for personal and professional projects.
