Overview

Lake Bogoria tour is for bird-watching lovers and specifically the flamingos. Lake Bogoria is the best place for birds watching.The lake is alkaline, feeding blue-green algae which in turn feed flamingoes. At times the number of flamingoes feeding in the lake may be as high as two million. Raptors such as tawny eagles prey on the flamingoes. In total, 135 species of bird have been recorded. They include little grebe, pratincole, swift, little bee-eater, cape wigeon, yellow-billed stork, African spoonbill, augur buzzard, gabar goshawk, water dikkop, great tit, starling, hornbill and crombec.The reserve has a herd of the relatively uncommon Greater Kudu. Other large mammals include buffalo, zebra, cheetah, baboon, warthog, caracal, spotted hyena, impala and dik dik.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Lake Bogoria

Pass By: Lake Bogoria, Kenya
Pickup at Hotel, residence or Airport at early in the morning and depart for Bogoria with a brief stop at the Great Rift Valley Viewpoint for photography and sightseeing. Proceed through the floor of Rift Valley past Naivasha and Nakuru town, head north past the Equator and to Lake Bogoria. We arrive at Lake Bogoria Spa for lunch before proceeding to Lake Bogoria National Reserve. Enjoy watching flamingos for the better part of the afternoon. The lake Bogoria National Reserve is alkaline, feeding blue-green algae which in turn feed flamingoes. At times the number of flamingoes feeding in the lake may be as high as two million.

We then leave Lake Bogoria for Nakuru town for overnight at a hotel in Nakuru town.

Day 2: Nakuru – Naivasha – Nairobi

Pass By: Lake Nakuru National Park Kenya
On this day we have an opportunity to visit Lake Nakuru National Park home to Rhinos, both black and white endangered species, buffalos, Rothchild Giraffes, baboons, zebras and other wild animals. Big cats ( Lion, Cheetah and Leopard) though rare exists here too. You will then exit and have lunch before proceeding with our Journey to Nairobi. Optional Boat Rides at Lake Naivasha can be planned for those interested in boat riding in the fresh waters of Lake Naivasha. You will arrive at Nairobi later in the afternoon. You will be dropped at your residence, hotel or Airport.
